My Version of a Winter Wonderland

While flipping through magazines, I stop and gaze in awe at the beautiful editorials. All those graceful models in gorgeous clothes looking warm while in the icy terrain of a winter wonderland. Oh wait, that doesn't f-ing happen in real life. Those itch-bays be cold. For reals...

I hate how the industry neglects the fact that the world (especially NYC) has these little things called seasons, and mainly, winter...

So let's get real girls and let us dress for the season fashionably. Trust me, it can happen! I do it all the time and now you can also!

Some of my winter must have items:

  1. Over sized Men's Sweaters- When you have morning classes, this is the perfect throw on and go. I always thrift mine, and I don't know how I lived without them before.
  2. Fleece Leggings- I didn't know these existed until recently and now that I do, my life has been changed. They are so thick and warm, you get the comfort and style of leggings with the warmth of actual pants. Miracles do exist...
  3. Riding or Combat Boots- These are both my 'go-to' when adding that perfect flair to an outfit. Riding boots are usually pretty high, and they add that sense of wholeness that rounds out an outfit that can be seemingly too relaxed. The opposite goes for the combat boots (which are surprisingly warm). These can add an edgy aspect to a rather girly or stern outfit.
  4. A Black Wool Pea Coat- A winter classic and a perfect winter throw on. It literally goes with everything and is acceptable for every occasion, whether it be interviews or concerts. It is great and you will get tons of compliments.
  5. Hats, Scarves, Gloves- Though that would seem like an obvious thing to wear outdoors in 30 or below weather, I have seen so many girls without them! Anyway, those girls can continue to be freezing while we stay warm. Rock a cute knitted pairing of these items to tie in cute and warmth into your outdoor look. Even try out what I call hobo gloves (you know, the ones that you can fold down and it becomes finger-less gloves), I personally like them and it makes it easy to find and hold things.
This is Eyes of NYC Sydney wearing an outfit I would classify as Winter-y Perfection.

Well, this wasn't as fun of a post as my last one but it needed to be done. I hope with these tips, you find your winter style and rock it, warmly though. Until next time, Stay true and Dress to be you! ~Chanda D
