My first Max Brenner experience
For those of you who don’t know me, I must fill you in before I officially begin this post: Hello, my name is Daniella and I am addicted to chocolate.
First Aid Chocolate Box (I need this..)
Joseph (the boyfriend) took me out for a pre-valentines-day dinner last night. Although he was trying to keep the dinner location a secret the whole subway ride, I had this psychic hunch it would be Max Brenner. So by the time we turned the corner onto 13th I was visibly overwhelmed with excitement that by the time we walked into the restaurant I had thought I died and went to heaven. (Because who wouldn’t want to be surrounded by chocolate in heaven?)

Take note, on a Saturday night this place is PACKED - with families and friends and couples (oh my!)...and loud, very loud. But, the waitstaff still manages to stay friendly and competent, we didn’t have to wait very long to be seated or served! Now even though I wanted to jump straight to dessert, I had to play by the rules: “First food, then chocolate.” So I had the Oven Roasted Tomato Pizza and Joseph ordered the Pan Toasted Penne Alfredo. Joseph said his pasta was “cheesy and fairly portioned,” and the smoked mozzarella on my crispy pizza (which was so big I couldn’t finish!) gave it a really unique taste. After our meal, it was agreed we’ve both had better pizza/pasta...but honestly, the dessert was the real reason why we were there - so enough about food, time for some chocolate.

“When a restaurant’s dessert menu is bigger than it’s food menu, I know this is your kinda place," Joseph said to me. And he was right. I was so overwhelmed (I get overwhelmed easily...especially by food) by all the options that we had to order three desserts. A chocolate truffle milkshake. A banana and peanut butter crepe. And the European Chocolate Fondue, with white and dark chocolate. A few adjectives to describe the second half of our meal: delectable, heavenly, rich, scrumptious...get the picture? If I had to pick my favorite of the three, I would definitely say that was the best crepe I’ve ever had. This angelic meal left us so stuffed we practically had to be rolled out of there!
Needless to say this was quite the experience, I believe that everyone should indulge every now and then..and this is the place to do it!
Now excuse me while I slip into a chocolate coma.
(on a scale of 1-10: 1=bad 10=great)
($=cheap $$=moderate $$$=expensive)
My NYC is your NYC! - Daniella
