The Famous Katz's Deli!

Hello bloggers!

So I know this is Daniella's portion of the blog but I thought I would give my own review on Katz's  Deli!

Ever heard of Kat'z Deli? If not I'll give a brief overview of what it is!
Outside the Deli!

  • Katz's Deli started in 1888!
  • During the early 20th century, the lower east side (where the store is located) was home to many immigrants so it became really popular and a part of their daily lives!
  • Ever heard the slogan "Send a Salami To Your Boy in the Army" ? This originated during World War II when families would send food to men overseas. This became the company's slogan!
  • Many famous people (actors, singers, even presidents) have been seen in the Deli over the years and are pictured on the walls!

My Thoughts?

The deli is really unique in the fact that it's SO crowded and has security guards around every entrance. The lines can get pretty long but don't worry, it moves quickly! Some of the most famous sandwiches to get are the pastrami and corned beef! My boyfriend ended up ordering the pastrami while I ordered the egg salad. It can be a bit pricey but you get A LOT of food!

Our Meal! Yummm:)
You have an option to stand in line and order food yourself and then find a table (cafeteria style), or have a waitress sit you down! We decided to order our own food, which didn't take long at all. The sandwiches come with pickles and pickled tomatos! They were really good pickles, and I'm not a pickle fan. The sandwiches are very big and are stuffed with meat or salad (whatever you order) so there is a lot to take in! We also got a side of fries which were very delicious! My egg salad was really good, probably the best egg salad I have ever had. I also tried a bit of the pastrami sandwich, which was also delicious! Next time I definitely want to try the corned beef.

Pictures of Famous People!

The whole time I kept looking around to see if I could spot anyone famous but no luck! The pictures on the walls are really cool though and show how many interesting people have eaten at Katz's.

You pay at the end so DO NOT lose the pink slip they give you, or else they charge you some sort of absurd amount of money...not really sure why, but just keep it in your pocket!

In all, it was a really good experience. Good food and a fun atmosphere!

So if you find yourself in the Lower East Side, definitely check out this famous deli! You won't regret it!
