I’m on an endless quest for the perfect cupcake
Since moving to NYC I’ve heard countless people rave about Magnolia’s cupcakes - so, this week I decided to see for myself. And I must be completely honest with you...it was a slightly disappointing experience. Don’t get me wrong, I was quite charmed by the delightful decor and variety of visually appealing cupcakes (like all that alliteration?), but on the matter of cupcakes, my eyes and taste buds proved to disagree. The cake part of my cupcake (chocolate cake & vanilla frosting) was actually moist and tasty but the butter creme frosting was so sweet my teeth hurt! And if I say something is too sweet...you know it is definitely too sweet. Megan, on the other hand, claimed that her Blondie Brownie was the greatest she’s ever had.
So, there seems to be a bit of mixed reviews on Magnolia’s Bakery at MyNYC. I for one, know that I am still on the hunt for my perfect cupcake - but I want to hear your opinions on Magnolia Bakery’s cupcakes and if you know a great cupcake place...SEND ME TO IT.
