A How to Guide to being a GREAT student!

Hello Internet people! I hope everyone had a great Valentines Day enjoying your flowers and Ben and Jerry’s and lovely Presidents day enjoying dressing up like your favorite president (because that’s what everyone does on Presidents day right?). I was stressed at school today and just wanted to go somewhere outside campus to get my homework done but where could I go? So I Googled some great little cheap study spots or even hang out spots to go and enjoy a cup of joe. Here is the list for your enjoyment!

 #1  Housing Works Bookstore

GOOD! Located on 126 Crosby St. this bookstore includes Wi-Fi and really good little coffee corner that serves yummy grilled cheese! All money and donations go to fighting AIDS! They are open Monday-Friday 10-9 and Saturday and Sunday 10-5.

Phone: (212) 334-3324

NOT SO GOOD This can be a great spot to get a coffee and read a book or do your work! Annnnddd everyone knows it! So it can get busy which is good for them, but bad to find a seat. They also close at 5 on the weekends, which is not so good for your late night cramming sessions.

#2 Think Coffee

GOOD! Located on 248 Mercer St. this coffee shop has a “Friends” picturesque and has really good fresh squeezed orange juice to perk you up! They have many locations (not just the one I mentioned) all over the city so finding on is really easy. They have some really special kind of coffees from all over the world. Can you say fancy or what? The best part? They are open till MIDNIGHT or 11 at most of their locations so those cram nights will be easy with them.

Phone: (212) 228-6226 (Mercer St. Location)

NOT SO GOOD Like many other cute study spots it can get quite busy so you have to get cozy with whoever you're sitting next to. The plugs are limited which can put you in a pickle if your battery is dying.

#3     Little Cupcake Bakeshop

GOOD! Located 30 Prince St. this is a super yummy bakery with some pizazz! Their baked goods are delicious and by the time I’m usually done, I’ve eaten the entire bakery. They have yummy chai’s and coffee as well and you can watch them make the baked yummies right in front of you. They are open until 11 Mon-Wed and 12 Thurs- Sat and 11 on Sundays.

NOT SO GOOD There are hardly any seats (though there are benches outside) and it can get quite toasty in there. The cupcakes and cake slices can be a little pricey but so worth it!

I hope you guys check out these great little gems in the city and try them out. They are mostly downtown (sorry about that) just because that is where I spend most of my time. There are a lot of great outdoor places that are great to study but since it’s a little chilly out, we’ll wait till spring rolls around.
