Let's face it. No matter what your background is, every college student becomes tight on money. I know I have (I am currently)! Then I have to face the ultimate dilemma: Clothes or food. Well, after not eating for a few days, I discovered thrift stores! I mean, during high school my friends and I went once or twice, but this was the first time we really went out into the city and thrifted. So, Sydney, Savannah, and I went out and ventured the streets of Williamsburg, Brooklyn and just let our awful navigation skills lead the way. Happily, our wandering skills worked out and we walked away with some great finds. Some highlights of the day:
- We got off the L train at Bedford Ave and started walking. We stumbled upon this random warehouse with everything you can imagine from trunks and knick nacks to vintage clothing and furniture. It didn't have any markers, so I have no idea what this place is called but stay along that block and you'll find it.
- The next place was called Antoinette. It's a cute small business in the heart of Williamsburg. The shop owner is this sweet women dressed in perfect vintage pieces. It's a small shop but it has amazing true vintage finds with the era attached on it's tag. I found this classic straw fedora from the 70's for only 25 and since she knew that we were college kids, she gave me a tax break! Check out the website (which is pretty amazing) here ---> http://www.antoinettebrooklyn.com/
- Last, on our way back to the train, through the tempting line of amazing pizza places, (I was still in the clothes over food phase), we came across our last stop called L-Train Vintage. It was the most chain store like, with multiple locations, but they had the largest variety of items. From fur coats to Prom dresses and everything inbetween. I ended buying a mens sweater for only ten dollars! I would (and want to) go back and I suggest it too! Here's the website and check out the multiple locations! ---> http://ltrainvintage.com/
Overall, it was a great trip and I recommend you guys take the trip! It was worth it!
